Meet Ajahn Sujan

  • Early Life: Born in a Hindu family, farming, Kathmandu Nepal 1978. Received basic education at the village school and attended Fine Arts college in Kathmandu.
  • Journey to Buddhism: while in the college, got contact with village Buddhist monastery where his spiritual journey began in 1997.
  • Monastic Life: Ajahn Sujan began his monastic life in 1998, as a novice in Kathmandu and a year later went to Thailand for further studies. Following year he took a higher ordination as a monk at Wat Paknam in Bangkok, under the preceptor the late most venerable Somdet Phra Maharajmangalacharn.
  • Training and Leadership: He studied Bachelors in Religious Studies and later gained Masters degree in Buddhist Studies from Mahachulalongkorn University in Thailand. In 2005, he was invited to assist Indian Buddhist community In Wolverhampton and later moved to Thai temple at Kings Bromley in 2007. In 2011 he was assigned to Aberdeen where he established a Varapunya Meditation Centre in 2012. Currently, he is the abbot and trustee chair of the centre in Aberdeen.
